Board of Directors

Letter from Ana DaCosta, Board President

Dear MCHVF Families,

Welcome to the 2017/18 school year at MCHVF!  On behalf of the MCHVF Board of Directors, I hope you had a great summer with your families.  I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome the new families joining us this year, we look forward to getting to know you and your children and are excited to share our wonderful school with you.   We hope that in no time you will feel a part of the community that is MCHVF and experience firsthand why so many of us love this school.

This year promises to be an exciting one for MCHVF.  Our goal this year is to define the long-term, strategic vision for our school.  We will also work on continuing program enrichment such as keyboarding and coding for Kindergarteners, ongoing teacher training and strengthening our community partnerships with Valley Forge National Historical Park and Surrey Services, an elderly care facility.  Maria Montessori placed high value on instilling respect for one’s community though her teachings, and with this year’s focus on kindness, we will look at further enhancing the spirit of giving among our children and families.

Although we maintain financial stability, we depend on our two main fundraising efforts- the Annual Giving Campaign and the Spring Fling – to keep the school running smoothly and provide the best resources for our children.  This year, in alignment with our strategy for ongoing teacher training, our goal is to raise enough funds to send our head teachers to the Annual Montessori Conference in the Spring.  We recognize that in order to stay on top of the latest research and trends as it relates to early childhood education, we need to ensure that our teachers are the best trained in the area and with your help, we hope to achieve this goal.

We are extremely grateful to the teachers and administration who work tirelessly to make MCHVF such a wonderful school.  The dedication they bring every day to caring for and guiding our children is truly remarkable. I also want to thank the parents who volunteer for classroom activities and fundraising events, including our dedicated group of parents that make up our Board of Directors.  Your support is crucial and our school wouldn’t be the same without you.

Here’s to a great year!

Sincerely,

Ana DaCosta
